- 01 Clean your screen first — dust and smudges look just like stuck pixels.
- 02 Pick a color and press "Enter fullscreen test".
- 03 Use ← → (or tap) to cycle White, Black, Red, Green, Blue, and the gradient.
- 04 Scan slowly across the whole panel, paying attention to edges and corners.
- 05 A dot that stays dark on every color is dead; one stuck on a single color may recover with gentle massage.
Common problems & fixes
- Screen won't go truly fullscreenPress F11 in your browser, or allow fullscreen when prompted. Disable any screen-dimming/night-light first.
- Edges look unevenSlight backlight bleed on the edges is normal for LCDs. Even, solid color across the middle is what matters.
- Notch hides part of the fillOn notched displays the menu-bar area is masked. Tilt the inspection toward the lower panel for those rows.
- True Tone shifts the colorDisable True Tone in Display settings so red/green/blue read as pure as possible.
- Fullscreen leaves a panel barToggle the window manager's fullscreen (often Super+F or F11) so no bars overlap the fill.
- Color looks washed outCheck your ICC profile — an aggressive profile can desaturate the pure primaries.
- Fullscreen still shows the Safari barsiPhone Safari does not allow websites to take over the entire screen (status bar and browser chrome stay). The fill covers the full browser view — scroll slightly or rotate to landscape to shrink the bars, then scan the visible panel.
- How do I exit the test?Tap Exit in the top-right corner of the color fill.
- Browser bars still show after Enter fullscreenAllow the fullscreen prompt if shown. Chrome and most Android browsers should hide chrome; if a bar remains, try Chrome and dismiss any on-screen system gestures overlay.
